Sponsorship

The volunteer program is sponsored by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), @ 422-4993.

Anyone desiring to participate undergoes a background check and training in order to join the program.

While the volunteers will staff the substations, they will also perform many other roles within the police department. A few of the many roles they will play are:

• Conducting tours of police headquarters for civic groups
• Assisting the training division with on-going training sponsored by the agency for law enforcement
• Working with officers at safety fairs and other outdoor events
• Fingerprinting
• Referral work

By taking over these important but time consuming duties, the volunteers free officers for road patrol and preventative enforcement.
