Substations

Service-oriented

In an effort to increase service to the community, Chief Robert Newell has made changes in the locations of police sub-stations to better serve the communities needs.

A sub-station to serve south Parkersburg has been opened in the former Rayon School on Rayon Drive.  The site is now known as the Parkersburg-Wood Law Enforcement Training Center.  The station is open to law enforcement at this time, and there are plans to have police volunteers staffing the facility daily in the near future.

The substation in Parkersburg's City Park is fully operational and has an officer and police volunteers staffing it daily, Monday-Friday.  It is located in the old concession stand near the Pavilion.  We encourage the public to use this station to report minor crimes or have questions answered so we can maintain sufficient police manpower on the street.  Some calls to the 911 Center will be evaluated and referred to this substation.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but our manpower situation is low at this time, and the need to have officers responding or available to respond to serious situations is of the utmost importance.

These substations are located at:

  • Parkersburg City Park Police Substation
    @ 424-0683 or 424-0682
  • Parkersburg-Wood Law Enforcement Training Center                1508 Rayon Drive (Rayon School)

The substations are staffed in part by volunteers from the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program @ 422-4993.

What You Can Do

Citizens can file police reports, meet with officers and take part in a variety of programs that will be offered at the substations. Some of the programs to be offered are blood pressure and cholesterol checks, bicycle safety, child car seat programs and safety fairs.

These substations will allow citizens to stay in contact with the police department without coming to Downtown.

If your group would like the Parkersburg Police Department to conduct a child identification event for you, please contact the Training/Public Relations office at 304-424-8459.  We would ask that you bring your group to the police substation in Parkersburg City Park for this event.
